Volkswagen subsidiary ‘Commercial vehicles’ has delivered to Deutsche Post 100 Volkswagen Transporter BlueMotion economic postal vehicles.
Due to such a fleet replenishment German «daughter» of DHL company will carry out their daily activities in accordance with strict environmental standards. Compared to conventional minivans of equal power (around 100 h/p) Volkswagen Transporter BlueMotion, equipped by 84-power (220 Nm) diesel «turbo Quartet» 2.0 TDI, spends in average 6.74 liters of fuel for 100 km and has an emission of 176 g/km of carbon dioxide, while opponents consume half a liter of fuel more and exhale into the atmosphere 190 g/km of CO2. Transporter BlueMotion achieves such a result due to a series of cost-conscious measures: start/stop function, switching of a motor by stops, for example, at a traffic light; brake energy regeneration system, charging accumulator; tires with reduced rolling resistance, and optimized aerodynamics.
