Scania seeks the best drivers

The Swedish automaker Scania AB announced the launch of the annual competition which will be held to choose the one best truck driver out of more than 55 000 professionals under the age of 35 years from 39 countries worldwide.

The event, founded in 2003 and initially held only in Europe, is now popular all over the world. Its goal is to focus on the skills of truck drivers, as well as on education and training for better knowledge on road safety and the environmentally safe driving. "The driver plays a key role in ensuring efficiency, safety and environmental protection – Scania CEO Leif Ostling is sure.

During the following months truck drivers will compete with each other in Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Argentina, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, China, Chile, Malaysia, Peru and South Africa, as well as throughout Europe. Registration for participants will be held from 1 January to 31 March 2012.

Young professionals will compete in neat and economical driving, maneuvering, demonstrate securing cargo skills, perform theoretical tasks and show their knowledge of health care and safety. The driver, who proves his superiority and mastership by tests and competition of Young European Truck Driver 2012, will receive the grand prize - a new Scania R-series truck, worth around $ 100 000. In addition the winner will also get the annual insurance of the car.
