On April 9, 2014 in Mainz (Germany) a SCANIA G410 truck, equipped with a EURO-6 engine, received its prize as a winner of “Green truck-2014". Thus, this model produces the lowest level of emissions that contaminate the atmosphere within the whole range of heavy trucks. Despite of the fact that the abidance by EURO-6 eco-standard regulating carbon dioxide emission became compulsory in the countries of Europe just in the end of 2013, SCANIA has been producing trucks that meet the requirements of EURO-6 since 2011. Thus, the evaluation of environmental impact by various trucks of various brands has been carried out by two reputable German magazines “VerkehrsRundschau" and “Trucker". According to the opinion of these magazines, SCANIA truck has become the best truck that corresponds with the description of an eco-friendly vehicle.
Fuel consumption impact on environment, as well as the amount of exhaust emissions are the main criteria which the evaluation and further leader detection was based on. By the way, a distinct feature of SCANIA G410 that contributed to its victory was a record-low level of diesel fuel consumption: on average 23 liters per 100 km. A very significant detail is also the fact that a carbon dioxide emission level of SCANIA G410 reaches around 730 g/km.
Christian Hottgenroth, SCANIA’s sales director in Austria and Germany, is very excited about the news. He has stated that he is even more excited about the fact that SCANIA G410 is the second model of a SCANIA EURO-6 truck honored with such a prestigious award. According to the words of Christian Hootgenroth, the company is very proud of being able to introduce a heavy truck with the lowest environmental impact among the rest of the trucks available in the market today.
