DAF is planning to introduce its extremely quiet truck designed for urban distribution during the nighttime at the grand exhibition of trucks IAA-2014 which this year will take place in Hannover (Germany) from 25 September till 2 October.
The present truck which will appear in the market in the beginning of 2015 can be set to a special “Silent mode”. Due to this mode the noise level is reduced to 72 dB, what makes it possible to use this truck in urban areas in the evening, at night or in the early morning. There’s a special button on the dashboard in the cab. When the button is pressed, the torque and engine speed are limited. The encapsulation of the gearbox also leads to reduction of noise.
The engine of the new DAF truck complies with the EURO-6 standard and is about 10, 8 l. The power produced can reach from 290 to 440 hp. In 2015 various modifications of the wheel base of the truck will be introduced, so as various types of the cab (for example, there will be Day Cabs, Sleeper Cab, etc.).
