MAN Truck and Bus has expanded its line of buses presenting a new model of intercity bus Lion's Intercity at Turkish plant in Ankara. This model is well-appointed for intercity travel as well as use as a school bus. The modular concept of MAN bus speeds up the process of making the required configuration and optimizes production costs.
Bus Lion's Intercity is available in two versions. The first version of Lion's Intercity has a standard length of 12 meters and has a maximum of 55 seats and 29 standees. The second - more spacious 13 meter bus Lion's Intercity C - accommodates 59 seats and 25 standees. The flexible modular system allows customers to configure optimum vehicles according to the relevant deployment characteristics. Thus it is possible to adapt the bus to carry wheelchairs and equip with hydrolift for their lifting. Large storage area is located in the center of the cabin. Large double doors facilitate passenger boarding and alighting. The main luggage compartments are located under the floor, their volume ranges from 5.2 to 6.4 m3.
The new model is equipped with a 290 hp common rail engine with Euro 6 standard. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and a 6-speed automatic is optional.
Particular attention is paid to the safety of the new MAN bus model. The Lion's Intercity is the only model to already satisfy standard ECE R66.02, which will enter into force in 2017. Standard buses are equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Roll-over Protection (ROP) and Dynamic Stability Programme (DSP), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) is optional.
