Mercedes-Benz Company has been allowed to fuel their trucks with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). This alternative fuel type is the result of a special hydrotreating of vegetable oils and animal fats. HVO has been produced since 2007 and it is already the second generation of green (renewable) diesel in the market.
Since February 2016 the vehicles with Mercedes-Benz engines of OM 470, OM 471, OM 936, OM 934 series can be filled up with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. Such engines have been designed according to all up-to-date requirements and they fully comply with Euro 6 standard. The motors of OM 470, OM 471, OM 936, OM 934 series are able to run on both biodiesel and usual diesel fuel.
Thus, Mercedes-Benz Company has made another step forward in decreasing the amount of emissions and promoting ecological compatibility of its vehicles.
