Caterpillar has introduced an upgraded version of its 308E2 crawler excavator.
The new 308E2 VAB features a variable-angle boom that consists of 3 sections.
This innovation has let Caterpillar’s engineers boost operational possibilities of their excavator considerably. Thus, the maximum dump height is increased up to 8000 mm (what is 10 times higher than in the previous version) and the figure of the maximum reach is 6080 mm.
Another prominent feature is 2 available variants of the tracks design. According to the customer’s choice, they can be made of rubber or steel.
Caterpillar 308E2 VAB will be powered by a 65-hp Cat C3.3B engine. The operating weight of the new excavator is enlarged up to 8700 kg.
Thanks to relatively compact dimensions and a high level of maneuverability, this type of construction machinery is able to perform a large scale of works. That is why variable-angle-boom excavators are extremely popular in Europe nowadays.
The new model is expected to appear in the market in September.
