A leading manufacturer of curtainsider vehicles has developed a new joining technology for curtainsider floors, which is intended especially in connection with the industrial production of semi-trailers.
The glued-floor concept benefits from a special elastic high-performance adhesive that joins the floor plate to the chassis. Actually, there are only six screw connections per floor plate to serve as fitting aids, and each plate is being fixed at different points. As a result, the floor plate is glued to the cross-members, l-beams and outer frame from below, providing a permanently elastic high-strength bond. Moreover, the new gluing technology replaces the standard sealing. The resulting permanent seal protects cargo from being damaged by moisture (e.g. when transporting paper rolls).
Other improvements include the increased floor load-bearing capacity. It is achieved through the optimised and flexible overall joint between the floor and the chassis, without the need of increasing tare weight. All this ensures safety during the loading process and allows the customer to make more flexible use of the trailer when loading at a ramp. Additionally, the value retention of Schmitz Cargobull curtainsiders has been further improved.
The adhesive is designed to be used in all temperature ranges throughout the respective geographical operating locations. The outstanding properties of the adhesive joint have been already confirmed via extensive field tests in all regions of Europe.
