Volkswagen’s BUDD-e electric van concept made its first public debut at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show at the beginning of the year. Since then, this small electric van has managed to collect a great number of awards. The recent one is the North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Award in the Concept Truck category for LCVs. The awards jury particularly appraised the environmental compatibility of the model that meets all the vehicle-utility requirements of the 21st century.
The previous awards include the victory in the category, devoted to the latest concepts at the Automotive Brand Contest (established by the German Design Council), the Plus X Award seal of approval in the Innovation & Design category, the Best Innovation prize from the US online technology magazine ‘Engadget’, and also the trophy for ‘Interior Design of the Year – Concept Vehicle’ at the Automotive Interiors Expo 2016 in Stuttgart.
Alongside its innovative and forward-looking interior, the BUDD-e electric van can boast the all-electric drive system with a range of up to 331 miles, a new type of operation system, touch and gesture control, as well as information via voice tech.
