Case IH has updated the range of fixed chamber round balers, which are available for the 2017 season. Two new items, the RB 545 and RB 545 Silage Pack, come as standalones or ‘baler-wrapper’ combinations. The standard package also includes a single roller crop press and IsoBus functionality (used to monitor pressures and baling progress), while the brand’s AFS 700 touch screen terminal and a camera overlooking the wrapping table are optional.
The improved models feature a five-tine, 220cm wide pickup reel, a new heavier duty drive chain and an optional choice of pickup wheels, including fixed or caster forms (both variants have to be removed for road transport). A considerable advancement has been made in relation to the number of ribs. The new Case IH bale chamber rollers consist of 10 ribs (the number is increased more than twofold). The company claims it will provide better grip during baling. Moreover, spacing between individual rotors has been reduced.
The updated netting system functions up to 20% faster than previously and allows 1.3m wide netting that helps to extend over the edge of bales. As a result, the RB 545 machine provides space for up to 2 spare rolls.
The Silage Pack machine can benefit from plastic wrap instead of conventional netting and due to side compartments there is space for up to 12 rolls of wrap.
