As it became known at the brand’s year-end press event, Caterpillar had put a lot of effort into the 2017 update of the M-Series loader range. The series represents medium versions of wheel loaders and the upgraded models include the 950M, 966M, 966M XE, 972M, 972M XE, 980M, and 982M.
The recent upgrades comply with the current company trend toward short-cycle rollouts of new features. The focuses of the design process were put on optimizing overall profitability and improving job site safety by means of enhanced operator comfort and serviceability. As a result, the new level of machine-specific efficiency is claimed to tackle overall site productivity.
The most significant changes have been made to the Cat Production Measurement system. It now boasts expanded capabilities and benefits from the Advanced Productivity app. The mission of this optional web-based tool is to collect data from the vehicle’s onboard sensor array and process it through algorithms to define what, where, when, and how wheeled Caterpillar loaders perform specific tasks.
