It’s natural that the largest British crawler crane hire company owns the biggest crane, which has ever been operated in the country. And it’s fairly natural that such a unique machine is very busy with special hard work. This time Weldex (International) Offshore Ltd is sending its 1350t Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane to Manchester for the construction of the Ordsall Chord Bridge.
A 1,350 tonne mammoth is planned to start its mission in February. The construction works are in full swing already. The weighty representative from the range of reputable Liebherr cranes is intended for lifting and placing the ‘arch’ of the bridge to link Piccadilly and Victoria stations. The arches are now laid flat on site, waiting for their destiny.
But the Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane will need an assistant. The task will involve two cranes, placed one at each end. Thus, the arches will be rotated into vertical positions and then bolted together.
