The Krone Group is investing €15 million in a new high-tech test center in an area of about 13 ha in the IndustriePark Lingen, situated 50km south of the company’s main facility.
Krone is intended to use the new premises to test all the brand’s products (commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery), as well as the range of axles, manufactured in cooperation with Gigant that joined the Krone Group in 2013.
The decision of centralizing Krone’s validation activities is driven by the latest mega-trends in the automotive industry. First, the future center will allow the engineers to carry out the comprehensive and advanced technical quality assurance for Krone semi-trailers, trailers and agricultural machinery. Second, it will serve as the platform for developing the brand’s autonomous driving solutions, which in the wake of increasing digitalization will help to meet the temporary and forthcoming requirements.
Construction works are expected to start in the spring of 2018. The project involves linking the new facility to the local University.
