Schwingsiebroder sind für Roden von Kartoffeln, Rüben, Möhren und anderen Wurzelpflanzen bestimmt. Die Maschine wird bei Ernte auf kleinen Feldern, auf leichten und ziemlich lockeren Böden mit wenigen Steinen, mit keiner starken Verunkrautung und ohne vertrocknetes Kraut empfohlen. Einfache Konstruktion, leichte Bedienung und Wartung sind nur einige Vorteile der Maschine.
Zwei Pflugscheiben schneiden Flechte ab, doppelte Pflugschar stutzt Aufhäufung und verlegt sie waagerecht auf das Schwingsieb. Zwei sich in Gegenrichtungen bewegende Siebe entfernen die Bodenreste und legen das Gemüse in einer engen Reihe entlang der Maschine. So ein Zusammenlegen gewährleistet ununterbrochene Arbeit der Maschine und erleichtert die Ernte. Hervorzuheben ist, dass sich der Schwingsiebroder in seiner Konstruktion durch eine sehr kleine Anzahl von beschädigten Knollen charakterisiert.
