A generator set, also known as a genset, combines a fuel-powered motor and an electricity generator to generate the electricity needed to power other equipment.
Generators can be mobile or stationary units. But either way, having an onsite energy generator is one of the best ways to ensure that your office building, warehouse, mill, or factory never goes without power.
Types of Generator Sets
- Diesel generators are some of the most robust, long-lasting electricity-generating machines available. They also use less fuel than gas-powered generators, making them ideal for operations looking to reduce overhead costs.
- Bio-Diesel – This alternative fuel can often be used in diesel generators. Biodiesel is made from new or recycled oils, such as canola, soy, flax, or camelina.
- Gas Generators are another excellent option for providing a continuous electricity solution. However, these machines have carburetors that can get clogged and malfunction from time to time.
- Natural gas generators are typically installed permanently with a fixed gas line, so you will never have to worry about running out of power or regularly refueling the machine.
- Hydrogen generators. As another alternative fuel source, hydrogen is used as a more cost-effective fuel for powering residential, commercial, or industrial generators.
- Backup generators. These can be powered by any of the abovementioned fuels. The difference is that backup generators are set up to kick on and immediately provide electricity when your primary power source goes out.
