Question 1

How does Atlas AWE 5 technology benefit hydraulic operations?

Accepted Answer

The Atlas Working mode system 5 (AWE 5) is an advanced electronic-hydraulic management system that optimizes engine output and hydraulic pump flow based on the selected work mode. It allows operators to prioritize power, precision, or fuel economy, ensuring sensitive and proportional control for tasks like fine grading. This intelligent load-sensing significantly reduces fuel consumption during partial-load operations by preventing unnecessary hydraulic flow and pressure.

Question 2

What ensures the stability of Atlas railroad excavators on tracks?

Accepted Answer

The stability of Atlas "Zweiwege" (two-way) excavators is achieved through a combination of design features. These include a rigid, computer-designed chassis, a low center of gravity, and a hydraulically controlled rail wheel guidance system that securely locks onto the tracks. Furthermore, the machines are equipped with specifically calculated counterweights and a rigid front axle to handle substantial lifting capacities, often exceeding 8 tonnes, without compromising stability during on-rail slewing or lifting.

Question 3

Are heavy haulage permits required for transporting Atlas wheeled excavators?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in many cases, special permits are required. Standard transport regulations in Europe often limit vehicle width to 2.55 meters and height to 4.0 meters. Many Atlas wheeled excavators, especially larger models like the 220W, can exceed these dimensions with certain tire configurations or attachments. Transport weight, often between 15 and 25 tonnes, must also be considered, requiring a suitable low-loader trailer and adherence to axle load limits, necessitating permits for public road transport.

Question 4

Can I verify the hydraulic pump pressure of an Atlas machine listed on Truck1?

Accepted Answer

While direct verification through the platform is not possible, a buyer has several options. You can request that the seller provide a machine inspection report from a certified technician, which should include hydraulic pressure test results for the main and auxiliary pumps. Alternatively, you can ask the seller for a video demonstrating the machine's onboard diagnostic screen displaying the live pressure data during operation, a feature available on modern Atlas models.
