Question 1

What is the Kobelco iNDr system?

Accepted Answer

The iNDr, or Integrated Noise & Dust Reduction system, is a proprietary Kobelco technology designed to cool the engine while minimizing noise and preventing dust ingress. It functions by routing air through a specific ducting system that muffles engine and fan noise before it exits the machine. A high-density 60-mesh filter is integrated into the air intake to block fine dust particles, protecting engine components and reducing maintenance requirements.

Question 2

How is hydraulic component longevity addressed in SK-series excavators?

Accepted Answer

Kobelco addresses hydraulic component longevity in its SK-series, including the SK-series Gen 11, through advanced filtration and system design. The machines are equipped with a high-pressure, super-fine hydraulic oil filter that removes microscopic contaminants, extending the life of pumps and valves. Furthermore, features like the Arm Interflow System reduce hydraulic pressure loss and heat generation, which in turn reduces wear on seals and other critical components over the machine's service life.

Question 3

How does the 0% VAT rule apply to intra-community machinery purchases?

Accepted Answer

For B2B transactions within the European Union, the 0% VAT rule, or reverse charge mechanism, applies to intra-community acquisitions of goods like construction machinery. A business registered for VAT in one EU member state can purchase a Kobelco excavator from a dealer in another member state without paying VAT at the point of sale. The buyer must provide a valid EU VAT identification number to the seller, and is then responsible for accounting for the VAT in their own country's VAT return.

Question 4

What is the procedure for inspecting an excavator's slewing motor on Truck1?

Accepted Answer

When inspecting a Kobelco excavator's slewing motor via a Truck1 listing, first review the seller's description and photos for any mention of leaks around the swing machinery. Request a video from the seller demonstrating the swing function; look for smooth, consistent rotation without excessive jerking or hesitation. Ask the seller about any unusual noises during operation and inquire if the swing brake holds firmly when the machine is on a slight incline, which can indicate the condition of the internal components.
