Question 1

What are the ergonomic benefits of the MAN SmartSelect controller?

Accepted Answer

The MAN SmartSelect is a rotary push-button controller with an integrated wrist rest designed to reduce driver distraction and improve ergonomics. It allows the operator to control the infotainment and navigation systems without taking their eyes off the road, as the tactile feedback and precise turn-and-press functionality can be used by touch. This design is particularly effective in minimising incorrect entries on bumpy roads, where traditional touchscreens can be challenging to operate accurately.

Question 2

How does the new MAN D30 engine's fuel efficiency compare to the D26?

Accepted Answer

The MAN D30 engine, part of the new engine generation, is engineered to deliver a significant fuel efficiency improvement over its D26 predecessor. Official MAN data indicates that the new powertrain, which includes the D30 engine and associated driveline optimisations, can achieve up to 4% lower fuel consumption compared to the previous generation D26. This is accomplished through improved combustion, reduced internal friction, and advanced thermal management within the engine's 13-litre architecture.

Question 3

What export documentation, like EX-1/MRN, is required for non-EU buyers purchasing a MAN truck?

Accepted Answer

For non-EU buyers purchasing a MAN truck from a European Union country, specific export documentation is mandatory for customs clearance. The key document is the Export Accompanying Document (EAD), which contains the Movement Reference Number (MRN) and confirms the vehicle is in an export procedure. This document, often referred to by its old name EX-1, is generated electronically via the EU's Export Control System (ECS) and is required to legally move the vehicle out of the EU customs territory and to reclaim Value Added Tax (VAT) where applicable.

Question 4

Can a buyer verify the VIN and service history of a MAN truck remotely through Truck1?

Accepted Answer

While Truck1 serves as a marketplace connecting buyers and sellers, it does not directly provide VIN checks or service histories. However, the platform facilitates this process by encouraging sellers to include the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in their listings. A prospective buyer can use this VIN to request a digital service record from an official MAN service partner or use a third-party vehicle history verification service to check for maintenance records, accident history, and mileage accuracy before committing to a purchase.
