Question 1

How does Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) reduce fuel consumption?

Accepted Answer

Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) integrates 3D digital road maps and GPS data to anticipate upcoming topography such as inclines, declines, and corners. It proactively manages engine performance and the PowerShift 3 transmission by optimizing gear shift points, applying precise throttle, and engaging the EcoRoll neutral function on suitable downhill gradients. This anticipatory driving strategy can reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% on both motorways and rural routes.

Question 2

What are the main advantages of MirrorCam versus conventional mirrors in the Actros L?

Accepted Answer

The MirrorCam system on the Mercedes-Benz Actros L offers several distinct advantages over traditional glass mirrors. Aerodynamically, its compact design reduces air resistance, contributing to fuel savings of up to 1.3%. Functionally, it eliminates the large blind spots created by mirror housings, provides a panoramic view, and features dynamic displays that pan with the trailer during turns and show distance lines for safer reversing.

Question 3

How do 0% VAT and EX-1 rules apply when exporting Mercedes-Benz units?

Accepted Answer

For business-to-business transactions within the European Union, a buyer with a valid EU VAT identification number can purchase a Mercedes-Benz truck at a net price, which is a 0% VAT rate. For exporting a truck outside the EU, the transaction is also VAT-exempt, provided the seller issues an EX-1 customs declaration document. This document officially registers the vehicle for export and serves as proof that it has left the EU customs territory.

Question 4

How can the Digital Service Booklet (DSB) records be verified via Truck1 dealers?

Accepted Answer

The Digital Service Booklet (DSB) is the official electronic maintenance log for all modern Mercedes-Benz trucks, replacing traditional paper service books. To verify a truck's maintenance history, a prospective buyer can request the seller on Truck1 to provide an official printout of the complete DSB record. This document can only be generated by an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center, ensuring the authenticity and completeness of the service history.
