Question 1

How reliable is the Volkswagen 4MOTION AWD system for commercial utility fleets?

Accepted Answer

The Volkswagen 4MOTION system, typically using a Haldex-type electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, is engineered for high-demand commercial use. Its reliability is contingent on adherence to scheduled maintenance, particularly the fluid and filter changes for the coupling, recommended every 40,000 to 60,000 km depending on the generation. For utility fleets, the system provides significant operational advantages in low-traction environments like construction sites or unpaved roads, with failure rates being low when service protocols are followed.

Question 2

What is the difference in cargo volume between the VW Crafter and the Transporter T6.1?

Accepted Answer

The primary difference is dimensional class. The Volkswagen Transporter T6.1, a medium-sized van, offers a maximum cargo volume of 9.3 cubic meters in its long-wheelbase, high-roof configuration. The Volkswagen Crafter, a large van, provides a substantially larger capacity, with volumes ranging from 9.9 cubic meters up to 18.4 cubic meters for the super-high-roof, long-wheelbase version. This makes the Crafter suitable for bulk transport and extensive conversions, while the T6.1 is optimized for urban logistics and trade applications.

Question 3

What are the procedures for buying a VW van through Truck1 for export to a non-EU country?

Accepted Answer

When purchasing a VW van for export to a non-EU country via Truck1, the process involves several key steps. First, confirm with the seller that they can provide an export declaration (EX-A document). The transaction is typically processed as a net sale, exempt from VAT, provided the buyer can supply a valid non-EU business registration and proof of export. Buyers are responsible for arranging logistics and customs clearance in the destination country, and it is crucial to verify that the vehicle's emission standard (e.g., Euro 6) is compliant with local regulations.

Question 4

How can I verify the DSG gearbox service history when considering a used VW van on Truck1?

Accepted Answer

Verifying the DSG service history is critical. On Truck1 listings, look for sellers who provide digital or physical service records; many professional dealers include this documentation in the vehicle's photo gallery or description. Specifically, request records showing DSG fluid and filter changes, which are typically required every 60,000 km for wet-clutch systems like the DQ500. If not provided, use the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to request a service history report from an authorized Volkswagen service center, which will confirm all official maintenance performed on the transmission.
