Question 1

What are the reliability and emissions standards of Yanmar TNV engines?

Accepted Answer

Yanmar TNV (Total New Value) engines are known for their industrial-grade reliability, featuring direct fuel injection and robust construction. They are fully compliant with EU Stage V emissions regulations, the most stringent standard for non-road mobile machinery. To achieve this, models under 56 kW typically utilize a maintenance-free Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and an improved combustion chamber design, while larger engines may incorporate additional aftertreatment systems. This ensures minimal environmental impact while maintaining high torque output.

Question 2

What are the main advantages of the ViO series' Zero Tail Swing design?

Accepted Answer

The primary advantage of the Yanmar ViO series' Zero Tail Swing is enhanced safety and operational efficiency in confined spaces. Because the upper frame and counterweight do not extend beyond the tracks during rotation, the risk of accidental contact with obstacles or personnel is significantly reduced. This allows the machine to work flush against walls, in narrow trenches, or on single-lane road closures, increasing productivity where conventional excavators cannot operate effectively. It also provides the operator with greater confidence and maneuverability in congested urban environments.

Question 3

What are the key logistics considerations for exporting compact machinery within the EU?

Accepted Answer

When exporting compact machinery like a Yanmar mini-excavator within the EU, the key considerations are transport dimensions, weight, and documentation. Most Yanmar models up to 8 tonnes are designed to be transportable on standard plant trailers, but it is crucial to verify the total width and height to comply with road regulations. All machinery must be accompanied by its CE certificate of conformity, and a comprehensive service history is essential for establishing value and condition. For cross-border transactions, confirming VAT handling and securing appropriate transport insurance are also critical logistical steps.

Question 4

How can I inspect for boom and bucket play on a used Yanmar listed on Truck1?

Accepted Answer

To inspect for boom and bucket play, first visually check the pins and bushings at all pivot points for signs of excessive wear, grease extrusion, or damage. A practical test is to place the bucket flat on the ground and gently apply downward pressure, observing for any vertical movement or 'clunking' sounds at the boom, stick, and bucket connections. For a more thorough check, use the bucket to lift the front of the machine slightly off the ground; any significant wobble or play in the linkage system will become immediately apparent. This indicates wear that may require costly replacement of pins and bushings.
